We have a rare chance this Friday to hear directly from a Guatemalan Canadian with inspiring personal experience to share after recently returning from nine years in her native country.

Wendy Mendez came to Canada as a child after her mother was disappeared by the Guatemalan military, then returned to spend the last nine years working for truth and justice in Guatemala.

Wendy will share her own story and experiences in activism relating to the trial of ex-dictator Rios Montt and... presenting about her mother's case at at international hearings. She'll also speak to the links between historical memory and ongoing community creativity and resistance to mining and power projects.
