Gwen Barlee Memorial Fund commemorates 5 years r1 ...

Dear Paov,

I don’t have to tell you how fast time goes.

Some days it feels like only yesterday our colleague Gwen Barlee was at her desk. Devising plans to get BC species legislation. Collaborating with other environmental groups to push the federal government to defend the habitat of southern resident killer whales. Chatting with media about the need to protect wild rivers in BC and the critters that call them home.

Five years ago today we lost our friend and co-conspirator and the environmental movement lost a tireless activist for change. And you lost a warrior for the causes you care most about.

Five years ago friends and supporters helped create the Gwen Barlee Memorial Fund. Nearly $200,000 over the past five years has gone to carrying on the work she was so passionate about. Thank you.

Today my colleague Joe Foy made a video in her honour, giving you a small peek at what we have been able to accomplish over the last five years in her memory. I hope you enjoy it.

Continue Gwen’s work Today we remember Gwen❤️ Tomorrow we continue to champion at-risk species like barn owls, American badgers, pine martens and rusty-patched bumble bees to ensure they live to see another day.

For the wild,
