Vote for climate action and communities that don’t pollute! r1 ...

Local government matters

Hi Paov,

Of all the small things we do in our daily lives to fight climate change, voting may be the most important. There’s a municipal election going on right now in every community across BC. Local leaders elected this month will either help the province meet its 2030 climate commitments or blow it.

There’s no room left for delay. Vote accordingly.

We’re already living through deadly climate disasters. Not understanding the urgency of this issue should disqualify any candidate for office at any level. Municipal governments make all sorts of housing, transportation and land use decisions that determine how much our communities pollute.

We need climate champions in every community. Election Day is Saturday, Oct. 15, but you can also vote early if it’s easier. Find out who your candidates are and pick the ones that will make the climate emergency a top priority. If you need help, take a look at our paper from earlier this year, Communities Take On Climate Change. Make a plan to get to the polls. You do not want to sit this one out.
  • Visit your community’s webpage
  • Find out who your candidates are and what their plans are for climate action
  • Figure out where and when you plan to vote
Then get to the polls and vote like your whole world depends on it — because it does.

Thanks for doing your part.

For the climate,
