A gift to protect nature next year

Hi Paov,

We’ve had a pretty busy year. It seems like the work defending nature and the climate is never done. Reflecting on what we do and why we do it gets us amped for the year ahead!

A few of our team wanted to share why they love this work. We hope you’ll join us with a year end donation to support its continuation in 2023.

Any gift today powers nature protection
Torrance Coste | National Campaign Director “I love being a part of the team at the Wilderness Committee. We work hard to get out on the land and into communities, to build relationships and tell stories about what's happening around us and what needs to change. We work on projects to advance protections for biodiversity and fight climate change, while recognizing the environmental crises we face are rooted in systemic problems and that solutions require respect for the rights of Indigenous Peoples and justice for all. We make mistakes and strive to learn from them, but when we're at our best there's real magic. The idea at the core of our funding model — that thousands of people pooling our resources can have an impact beyond what we can alone — still gives me a spark of hope after working here for years. We've got some really exciting plans for the new year and I can't wait to start sharing them.” Give to support Torrance's work
Charlotte Dawe | Conservation and Policy Campaigner “Wilderness Committee at COP15, the UN Biodiversity Conference, played an absolutely crucial role in cutting through the noise and chaos in order to tell the truth about biodiversity protection. We've held events with incredible panelists to speak about the realities of the fight to protect biodiversity in BC, we've called out corporate interests who have no place at a biodiversity conference, we've spoken in front of bureaucrats and ministers to address the real policy failures of governments and how they need to change. We've been the voice that does not compromise and we will continue to always advocate for what wildlife really need, not what is politically convenient. I am incredibly grateful to all of you — I couldn't have been sent to this pivotal meeting of nations for biodiversity without your support.” Give to support Charlotte's work
Joe Foy | BC Protected Areas Campaigner “Many of you may know that I’ve worked for the awesome and amazing Wilderness Committee since the 1980s. Our organization supports and allows me to be out on the land advocating for new protected areas to save old-growth forests, wild valleys and wild creatures like the spotted owl. The Wilderness Committee works because of thousands of contributions from folks like you. Your contribution will most certainly make an impact, whether you donate a lot or a little. Anything and everything helps.” Give to support Joe's work
Peter McCartney | Climate Campaigner “I want to share my gratitude for my wonderful colleagues who make it possible for us to push decision-makers to protect the planet. While many of you see all the great research, actions and media work we do, there’s a lot of work behind the scenes. Campaigners got out to the North Island, Peace Region and Bigmouth Valley to gather images and meet with locals. Communications and publications staff had multiple reports on the go. Development and administration folks heroically got us onto a new database so we can work more efficiently and our canvass teams are growing again after the pandemic. And of course our executive director managed to hold us all together with the support of our board of directors. These amazing humans are the reason we are able to hold government to account and spread the word about the true causes and solutions of our ecological crisis. And of course we're all able to do this work thanks to tens of thousands of small donations from supporters like you and me! If you're in a position where you can help keep us going for 2023, please consider chipping in today.” Give to support Peter's work There are many groups doing great work out there, so it means a lot that you choose us as one of those you support. Any gift today powers nature protection into 2023. Thank you.

Wishing you a bit of rest and relaxation during the holidays and happy new year!

For the wild,
Beth Clarke
