Environmental awareness with Bonnie Raitt
Hi Paov,
We did it. We went on tour with ten-time Grammy Award winner Bonnie Raitt as a preferred charity. From tears to goose bumps to encores, there was a little something for everyone. Opening act Royal Wood kept us smiling and laughing, while Bonnie mesmerized us with her combination blues/folk/rock/country sound, her guitar and her smooth voice.
But it wasn’t only that. While Bonnie touched our hearts with her music we were there every step of the way giving the crowd something to talk about: the climate and biodiversity crises and how we can stop it in the nick of time.
Can you chip in today and help us cover the tour costs?
We couldn’t say no to the opportunity to raise awareness about the critical environment work you and I do together. Thanks to the tour we've signed up hundreds of new activists to join our... movement!
But we're still $3,500 away from covering the costs. While we made great new friends across the country and donors made amazing contributions, we need your help to ensure our work for nature doesn’t have to skip a beat.
I think the highlight of the tour for me though was the hug! I was honoured to meet Bonnie backstage after the Saskatoon concert. Her thanks and praise for the hard work you and I have been doing for decades was heartening. She acknowledged the sacrifice staff, volunteers and supporters make in order to effect change and defend the environment. And she gave a public shout out about the critical work of the Wilderness Committee. We remain honoured that of all the amazing charities across this country, she chose to support us.
I want to thank all of you who stopped by one of our tables to chat. I had some good conversations with environmental allies and friends in Saskatoon and Regina, as did the volunteers and staff at other tour locations. It’s thanks to volunteers who showed up to help and supporters like you that made this experience possible.
For the wild,
Executive Director
