Let's protect the spotted owl's future!

Hi Paov,

You and I know the spotted owl has been through a lot. Its population in Canada has plunged from 500 pairs to the brink of extinction after a century of industrial logging. But now, we’ve got a rare shot to turn things around.

The federal government is poised to release its finalized Spotted Owl Recovery Strategy, and it’s a game changer. This plan calls for the protection of 4,000 square kilometres of old-growth forest in south western B.C. — a win for the spotted owl, other wildlife and anyone who... loves these incredible places.

Can you hear the “but” coming? While the feds and First Nations have been stepping up, the B.C. government totally missed the memo and is still handing out logging permits in critical habitat.

That’s why we’ve published Spotted Owl Forest Revival, a paper highlighting what this all means, what the challenges are and the steps needed to drive meaningful action.

You and I love a comeback story. Take action today and help write the next chapter of the one featuring the spotted owl. Because without you it may not come true.

Tell Premier David Eby to stop logging spotted owl habitat, and to work in cooperation with First Nations and the federal government to lock in real protections — not just empty promises.
