Dear Friend,
The federal government appears willing to quietly allow universal single-payer health care to be dismantled rather than confront Alberta.
But political silence only works when no one speaks up.
That is why health coalitions across the country are organizing rallies at constituency offices and asking a simple question: Will our MPs break the silence and stand up to U.S.-style two-tier health care?
Join us for the Vancouver rally at the office of MP Hedy Fry on
Monday, March 16 at 9:30 AM
Alberta’s legislation allows doctors to bill... patients when they are most vulnerable. It opens the door to private insurance, creating a two-tier health care system where patients will be pressured to pay – and those who cannot afford to will have less access to care.
This directly violates the principles of Universality and Accessibility set out in the Canada Health Act. It would also open the door to allow private, for-profit hospitals and insurance to provide essential care, risking Canada’s trade exemption and allowing U.S. corporations to permanently reshape our health system.
Read more about the legislation.
Stand with us on Monday, March 16 at 9:30 AM at the office of MP Hedy Fry. As Chair of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Health, she has a responsibility to defend and enforce the Canada Health Act.
I'll be there! One health card. Based on need, not the ability to pay.
We hope to have you with us.
Sincerely,
Cheryl
