While visiting Venezuela, our friend, Merli Vanegas, Consul of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela was attacked and her brother was stabbed by a mob opposed to the Bolivarian Revolution.
Merli and her brother are now out of danger and recuperating. [see text at the bottom of e-mail]
This violent mob is the same fascist opposition that the Canadian government is supporting and encouraging
Merli has been to Victoria several times to participate in public events, meet mayor and Council and participate in sports activities organized by local human an rights activists.

Caracas, Apr 15 - . On the night of Monday April 14 , was attacked by a fascist horde the Consul General of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in Vancouver , Canada, Merli Vanegas, along with his younger niece old and his brother Leonel Zavala , who was seriously injured .
The health status of Zavala is stable , having undergone surgery for perforation of the right lung with a knife , as was confirmed Vanegas telephone.
The two brothers were victims of violence right sectors at about 7:40 Monday night in the Chacao municipality of Caracas, the opposition mayor Ramon jurisdiction Boy .
The attack came after the brothers intentasen restore the passage of a public highway ( putting in place the caps of some culverts) in the Páez street Chacao , near where his mother lives , and they were identified as children of Marleny Vanegas recognized activist Chavez , popular and affectionately called the Red Riding Hood.
" One man recognizes me and says, ' Zámpale , who is the daughter of Red Riding Hood ' There was a big crowd of 30-40 people I was rushed three men and nine or eleven women began to beat wildly, they hauled me . . . hair , threw me to the floor, got kicked and tried to get into the sewer, so my brother tried to defend myself and one of the guys pulled out a knife and lunged at him, who screw lung " narrated Vanegas.
President of the National Assembly (AN ) , Diosdado Cabello , denounced the attack and urged the mayor of Chacao, Ramón boy , to do their job to ensure the safety of residents and passersby of territory under its responsibility
