Hello again,
There appears to be sufficient interest in holding a vigil to lift up the suffering in Palestine/Israel on Thursday at 5pm, outside of Murray Rankin's office- 1057 Fort St. This will be a peaceful vigil, not a protest, so please refrain from bringing placards with angry messages. Somehow, we must find a way to move beyond our anger and frustration and reach out to one another with hope that a path to peace can be found. To help us do that on Thursday, could you bring a photo, a prayer, a short reflection- something that resonates with your heart? You may not have a chance to share, depending on the numbers of people who are present, but we will create a sacred space for these symbols of our intention. I will bring tea-lights which we will use to encircle Murray's office with the light of transformation and new beginnings.
The fact that a group of us are willing to witness to the suffering in Gaza in a public way and at our elected representative's front door, is in itself an important statement. I will be contacting Murray's office to let him know of our vigil. As well, if you could extend invitations to the people in your network or faith community who might be interested in showing this kind solidarity, KAIROS Victoria would be most grateful.
If you have any other questions, just send them my way. See you Thursday at 5pm!
Shalom, Salaam, Peace be with you, Susan
