Important Update on the NYC Climate Convergence
Hello climate rebels,
September 19-21 is fast approaching. That's when thousands of people will descend on New York City for the Climate Convergence in the run-up to the historic People's Climate March.
If you have submitted a teach-in proposal, we thank you! Please be patient. We will be getting back to you with next steps in the coming days.
If you haven't submitted a teach-in proposal yet, good news! We have extended the deadline for proposals until Tuesday, Aug 19. Submit a teach-in and join this exciting effort to build systemic alternatives to capitalism, alternatives that put people, planet and peace first. But don't procrastinate any longer, the sooner we receive your proposal, the more likely it is that we will be able to fit it in. Priority for teach-in proposals will go traditionally marginalized communities.
You can follow-up updates on the NYC Climate Convergence, download fliers and coordinate your travel and housing arrangements in New York City by vising ConvergeForClimate.org.
Don't forget to register for the Convergence. Your donations are what makes this monumental event possible.

Climate Change
As arctic temperatures rise at twice the rate of the rest of the world, the realities of climate change are increasingly asserting themselves says System Change activist Chris Williams – quite violently in Egypt this summer, as Mika Minio-Paluello details.
Are economic and political elites taking heed? Don't count on it.
A new study from Nature Climate Change estimates the impact of the Keystone XL pipeline on our climate could amount to four times what the State Department and the oil industry has claimed it will be.
Speaking of pipelines, Brad Hornick reports on his stay at the longstanding Unist'ot'en camp where first nations are defending sovereign Wet'suwet'en territory from transmission lines carrying tar sands and fracked-gas.
Brian Ward outlines Obama's ongoing betrayal of American Indian nations' sovereinity while Rising Tide North America has put out a call for environmentalists to support the sovereignty of Palestinians living under Israeli bombardment, siege and occupation funded by the United States.
Referring to the upcoming People's Climate March they write, “In New York City, we will march with communities and groups who are working daily for community resilience against climate events like Superstorm Sandy and for food and environmental justice. We believe that from Palestine to New York City and beyond, our struggles for climate and social justice are all related.”
There will be talks on Palestine featured the upcoming NYC Climate Convergence, occurring ahead of the People's Climate March this fall. See you there as we forge a movement based on international solidarity that challenges capitalism head on.
Solidarity!
