Climate change knows no borders!

Hi PAOV,
Summer is winding down, and at the Wilderness Committee we’re gearing up for an autumn of climate action!
Things begin this weekend with an international rally at the Peace Arch border crossing on the Lower Mainland. Our Vancouver office is a key organizer of this rally, which is part of the Global Climate Mobilization Weekend. The weekend culminates with a massive march in New York City, billed as the biggest climate action in history.
The rally at the Peace Arch – a powerful and symbolic location – will feature First Nations and environmental leaders from both sides of the Canada-US border, united to stand up for the Salish Sea and our shared climate.
We’re organizing a carpool from Victoria for folks from the Island, departing from Victoria in time to catch the 9 a.m. ferry. If you’re interested, please contact Emily at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
Concerned citizens will literally join hands across the border, demanding climate action from our political leaders. We’ll also honour the International Treaty to Protect the Sacredness of the Salish Sea, which will be signed in the following days by Coast Salish Nations.
For more on why this weekend is so important, check out this new op-ed from our Climate Campaigner Eoin Madden.
All other details about the event are available on our website here, as well as on the Facebook event page.
Climate change is the most pressing environmental issue we face as a global community, and this fall is the time to take action. We hope you can join us this weekend, and share the event with friends and family on the Lower Mainland!
For a safe climate and a healthy Salish Sea,
Torrance Coste | Vancouver Island Campaigner
