Five First Nations are on the brink of stopping Enbridge’s tar sands pipeline for good. But rising costs are threatening to derail their strong legal case.
A generous donor has pledged to match every single dollar that we raise to help beat Enbridge -- will you chip in CA$10 ?
Donate CA$10An extremely generous anonymous donor wants to double your money. I’ll tell you how: right now, five First Nations are trying to deal a massive, crippling blow to a massive tar sands pipeline across Alberta and BC. They have the legal upper hand against petro-giant Enbridge -- but Enbridge and its army of lawyers will do whatever it takes to force this giant tar sands pipeline through.
And Enbridge has something they don’t: an almost-unlimited supply to money to bully them into giving up. It badly wants to shift tar sands oil, and if it does, it’s “game over” for our climate.
To give the First Nations a fighting chance, we’re asking for your help -- and our donor will double any donations towards this legal challenge.
Please, will you chip in CA$10 today and instantly have your gift doubled to help stop Enbridge?
Yes, I'll chip in CA$10 to stop the massive tar sands pipeline once and for all.
Momentum is building against Enbridge’s tar sands plans, and you better believe it’s worried. It’s starting to realise that it can’t use money to fight against people power.
People are looking past Enbridge’s multi-million dollar ad campaigns telling us the tar sands are safe. They know that tar sands oil is like peanut butter -- a spill would be almost impossible to clean up, destroying the natural landscape that indigenous people have relied on for centuries. The land and water covered in black sticky goo, the air full of the unmistakable stench of oil.
Not to mention the devastating impact on the climate in general. Renowned climate scientist Dr. James Hansen has said it’s “game over” for the climate if Canada’s tar sands oil is successfully exported through a tar sands pipeline.
This is our best shot of stopping this monstrous tar sands pipeline in its tracks.
Canada’s highest court has already ruled that First Nations have the right to a specific piece of land, setting a precedent for resource rights in Canada. The pieces are all in place -- now it’s just up to us to make sure Big Oil can’t bully to get its way.
Will you chip in to help the Gitxaala, Heiltsuk, Kitasoo/Xai’xais, Nadleh Whut’en, and Nak’azdli Nations fight back against this massive tar sands pipeline?
Thanks for all you do,
