Cold Gas, Hot Air cover

Hi PAOV,

If you’ve been around BC lately, I’m sure you’ve heard the slogans recited by the BC government about its plans to export liquefied natural gas (LNG).

But in selling the idea of a giant new gas industry to British Columbians, we feel the BC government has neglected to tell us about the real impacts. That’s why we’ve produced this new educational report:
Cold Gas, Hot Air.

The report explores the realities of developing a liquefied natural gas (LNG) industry in BC, including:

  • the connection between LNG and the harmful extraction process known as fracking;
  • the climate change potential of LNG and the impacts of climate change in BC;
  • other potential impacts of LNG plants proposed in places like the stunning Skeena estuary; and
  • potential economic alternatives to LNG and fracking in British Columbia.

All the hype about this new fossil fuel industry prevents us from taking a long, hard look at the impact it will have on our air and water. It also stops us from realizing that more sustainable jobs can be created elsewhere in our economy.

Please take a few moments to read this new report and share it with a friend. Now is the time to act. BC’s LNG industry is in its infancy, and we have an opportunity to prevent the construction of proposed LNG projects now – before they are built. With your help, we can create a truly green future for our province.
