[UVic-sustainability] News and Events for the Week of Feb 10th

NEWS:

UVic is seeking input—as part of the 2015 Campus Plan Update, for a refreshed vision and directions for future campus development—from faculty, staff, students and members of the community. A short survey is open to all (submit feedback by Sunday, Feb. 15), with a chance to win a $100 bookstore gift card. Take the survey

Our office is entering its awards season again. This March we will be giving out our Student Sustainability Champion Award. If you know a student who is working to make the university more sustainable, nominate them.

In case you missed the flurry of articles on divestment in the last two weeks, please see the following list:

- John Charest weighs in on divestment, and Ricochet's Ethan Cox responds.

- UVic holds the Forum on “climate change, divestment and society,” the Martlet posts a response, and the Tyee publishes Dr. Dempsey's and Dr. Rowe's response.

- UBC professors, librarians and program directors vote 62 per cent in favour of urging the school's board of governors to sell off its holdings related to fossil fuels within the next five years. Vancouver ObserverThe Province .
