Across the U.S., millions of people inside and outside of the Jewish community are taking a long hard look at Israel’s human rights abuses. Elected leaders who’d been too scared to speak out are raising their voices. Academics and students are building power on campuses, where once it simply wouldn’t have been possible.
At JVP, we’re working flat-out to harness this energy, and build our movement. In 2014, we nearly doubled our income, and by the end of 2015, our staff will be twice as big as it was last year - including a new Congressional Liaison based in DC.
We’re running bold, high-impact campaigns. Two weeks ago, after Lauryn Hill cancelled her concert in Israel, we collected over 20,000 signatures to support her. Last week, over 16,000 of you signed our letter to the State Department, calling on them to recognize that criticism of Israel is not anti-Semitic.
This has only been possible because of you, and thousands of other JVP supporters like you. Our opponents are well-connected and well-financed - AIPAC brings in more than 30 times as much money as us each year - but no amount of money can buy what we have: the passion and energy of hundreds of thousands of people ready for change.
2014 was an incredible year, but 2015 can be even better. This is a new moment, and we can’t let it go to waste.
