Have your say on BC’s Climate Leadership Plan!

BC wildfire (BC Ministry of Transport)

Hi PAOV,

Have you ever wished you could give advice to the BC government on critical issues like climate change and the creation of a giant new LNG industry driven by fracked gas?

Good news – you now have an opportunity to let your views be known!

The BC government is working to reboot its current Climate Action Plan to make sure the province is still on track to meet the greenhouse gas emission reduction targets it committed to back in 2007.

To do this, they formed a Climate Leadership Team to create a new Climate Leadership Plan. And they also want to hear from you!

The province has a solid foundation of climate policies to build on, which includes the carbon tax, clean energy requirements and the low-carbon fuel standard. However, even with these great starting points, successfully navigating the path to BC’s 2020 and 2050 greenhouse gas reduction targets will be huge challenge.

We are asking you to TAKE ACTION by engaging in the government’s public consultation and taking their survey on the new Climate Leadership Plan.

Before you take the survey, please check out the FAQ page we designed to help guide you through the process. The BC government also released a discussion paper to go along with the survey, which you can find here. The public consultation on the plan is open until August 17th.

As you will see, the government’s discussion paper falls short of actually getting to the bottom of what the priorities are for the future climate plan.

That’s why we are hosting Climate Leadership Workshops, where you can join us and other commenters in a discussion to make sure our voices heard.

The workshops will guide you through the submission process and provide you with science-based evidence to back up your comments. I hope you will join us at one of the three workshop dates:

  • Thursday, August 6th, 2015 | 6-8 p.m.
  • Wednesday, August 12th, 2015 | 6-8 p.m.
  • Thursday, August 13th, 2015 | 6-8 p.m.

The workshops will take place in our head office in Vancouver, at 46 East 6th Avenue (see map). Refreshments will be provided. Space is limited, so please RSVP tor0
