A crucial election for health care

NationBuilder r1

Dear Paov,

This weekend, Prime Minister Stephen Harper called the federal election. Now, we have 11 weeks to make better public health care a priority for Canada's next government.

Will you vote for health care this election?

If enough people pledge to vote for health care, we can push the federal parties to commit to strengthening the care that is accessible to everyone.

Click here to sign the BC Health Coalition Vote Pledge

Signing the pledge means you'll get more information about where the parties stand on health care. After the parties release their platforms, we’ll send you an election guide showing the party positions on key health care issues. Then, we’ll encourage everyone who’s signed the pledge to get to the polls and vote.

Years... of federal neglect have brought public health care near a breaking point - many people struggle to find a family doctor and private for-profit clinics have been allowed to exist, largely unregulated. The current government seems not to have a strategy for seniors care and they plan to cut at least 36 billion dollars from health care transfers starting in 2017.

This election is an opportunity to push for the federal leadership we'll need to move beyond the health care status quo. We're calling for universal pharmacare and a national plan for seniors care, both of which would cut down on expensive, unnecessary hospital use. More than that they would improve quality of life for thousands of people in Canada.

Some BC ridings came down to less than 500 votes in the last election so every vote will make a difference in this election.

Let's make sure public health care gets stronger after this election.

Sign the pledge and help make health care an election priority

Sincerely,

P.S. Here's how the vote pledge works:

  • You sign the pledge joining others in B.C. who have committed to vote in support of public health care.
  • We report back to you showing where B.C. candidates and their parties stand on key health care issues.
  • Together, we get out to vote for public health care making sure the next government has a strong mandate to support and strengthen public health care.
