Many of you will remember Sandra Morán as the percussionist in the revolutionary band Kin Lalat that came to Canada in the early 90's. Their stirring music was an awakening to the realities in Central America for many Canadians. At that time she had already spent 10 years in exile having fled the death squads in her native Guatemala. Today she is one of Guatemala’s most prominent feminists and performance artists and she has recently won a seat in Congress with the Convergence party. Sandra will be speaking at the James Bay... Community School Center on Sunday, Oct 4th. The evening will begin with a pot-luck at 6:15 pm. Sandra will relate a bit about her work with the organization Artesana and then will update us on recent events in her country.

Come and hear the amazing story of Guatemala's recent popular uprising which is ongoing. Hope is being restored in Guatemala!

Please bring a pot to feed 4 people or more with a serving spoon; your own plates, cutlery and cups and a donation to help cover the rental costs. We will provide the coffee and tea.
