Tale of Two Rivers: Community Discussion Wednesday, Oct. 28th
Hi PAOV,
Sometimes it feels like we’re playing whack-a-mole with new port projects, LNG terminals, coal terminals and tar sands pipelines proposed for the Fraser River and its estuary.
When we learned about the proposed Tilbury LNG facility in Delta, we wanted to bring community members together to talk about the combined impacts of this and all the other projects proposed in the area.
That’s why we are inviting you to our Tale of Two Rivers event on October 28th in Steveston, Richmond.
Co-hosted by the Wilderness Committee and Council of Canadians (Richmond/Delta chapter), this community discussion will ask: What's your vision for the future of the Fraser river and estuary?
We will have input from farmers, salmon protectors and LNG experts, and we’ll start the conversation around how we can develop our own land use plan for the region.
Here are the details:
Tale of Two Rivers
Wednesday, October 28, 2015
7:00 p.m.
Steveston Community Centre
4111 Moncton Street
Richmond, BC
Speakers include Eoin Finn, who will give an outline of the Tilbury LNG proposal, and John ter Borg, who will speak about local agriculture and its relationship to the Fraser River.
The industrialization of the Fraser has happened at an unsustainable pace, and it looks to be accelerating – in accordance with industry and government plans. This community event is a great opportunity to examine what’s in store for the region, and to learn how you can have a say over the future of the Fraser.
