Dear Paov,October 19th, 2015, may mark the beginning of a new era for Canada's environmental laws. In this time of great change, West Coast is more committed than ever to safeguarding the environment through law. As we have done for decades, we will continue to work with governments of all stripes to ensure Canadians have strong, lasting legal protection for nature and democracy.
What exactly does a Liberal majority mean for Canada's environment?

While neither perfect nor complete, the new government's campaign commitments do contain a heartening number of the requests that environmental and other groups asked of the parties in the lead-up to the election. If fulfilled, they will indeed mark a new environmental era for Canada.
For over 40 years West Coast Environmental Law has played a role in shaping BC and Canada's most significant environmental laws, and has provided legal support to citizens, First Nations and communities on practically every environmental issue imaginable. We work to ensure that progressive, robust environmental laws are created and enforced, and we have had a hand in virtually every significant piece of environmental legislation in BC and Canada.
Now, the work begins anew. At the start of this new chapter we will continue to work as hard as ever to make sure the new government is held accountable to the promises they've made to Canadians.
