This City Talks panel will explore various local community perspectives on "free walls"... as part of the public artscape in Victoria as well as the role of street art in urban place-making more generally.

This is a free public event at the Legacy Art Gallery ~ 630 Yates Street

Run by the Committee for Urban Studies at the University of Victoria, The City Talks is a free public lecture series featuring distinguished scholars drawn from the University of Victoria, across Canada, and beyond. The theme for the Fall 2015 series is Street Art and the Politics of Urban Place-Making.

The lectures last an hour and a half, including a question and answer session with the speaker.

MOSQOY TEXTILE FAIR Nov. 20 and 23


Mosqoy is a non-profit organization which supports social-justice and cultural rights in the Peruvian Andes. We are hosting our Annual Textile Fair and wanted to invite your department, and ask if you could please forward this email to the students in your department!

Please join us to see amazing handcrafts and stock up on quality holiday presents! We will be hosting a two day event on November 20th from 10am - 4pm, and November 23rd from 9am to 12pm. The textile fair will be held in the Environmental Studies Department Common Room in DTB and these funds will go directly to supporting indigenous weaving communities in Peru.


Everyone is welcome to stop by for snacks, have a look at our textiles, and hear presentations about language, culture, and weaving by Mosqoy founder Ashli Akins and graduate student Alison Root.
