The Beaver Lake Cree are standing up to Big Oil. You in? r1 ... Help RAVEN keep our commitment to the Tarsands Trial. r33

Donors like you are stepping up to support the Indigenous Peoples who are behind key legal challenges in Canada.

Your donations make an incredible difference to those who are standing firm to protect their rights and way of life from the ecologically reckless destruction of industries like those in the tar sands.

"The help that RAVEN provides is a ray of hope for Indigenous Peoples who have been adversely affected by the climate changing impacts of extractive industries in their traditional lands and territories." Ron Lameman, Treaty & Indigenous Rights Advocate, Beaver Lake Cree Nation, Treaty No. 6 Territory

Your donations to RAVEN reflect your commitment to the health of our planet, and your belief in Indigenous People’s equitable access to justice.

Crystal Lameman, Beaver Lake Cree Nation Treaty 6 Treaty Coordinator & Communications Manager, just returned from the Paris Climate Summit. And she knows there is still a lot of work ahead of us:

"The Beaver Lake Cree's treaty rights case is that much more important now because of the failed Paris Accord, which refused inclusion of the "Rights of Indigenous Peoples" inclusive of the protection and preservation of their lands and territories. The Beaver Lake Cree have every major world polluter in their backyard, contributing to greenhouse gas emissions, and tearing up one of the world's largest carbon sinks."

In the face of such wanton environmental destruction we are all allies together, and the RAVEN team will not let up. We have to stay strong to support the Beaver Lake Cree Nation’s legal actions through social media blasts, grant applications, requests to Foundations, matching donor appeals, and support to community champions. Please join RAVEN’s Circle of Allies to ensure the RAVEN team can continue raising legal defense funds for First Nations.

"RAVEN continues to support the BLC legal action because we believe a successful outcome will have a tangible, measurable impact on the ground, for our children, our grandchildren, and their children. " Susan Smitten, RAVEN Executive Director

RAVEN Allies Circles bring together an extraordinary group of individuals that share RAVEN’s commitment to put reconciliation for Indigenous Peoples into action. As an ally, you directly enable RAVEN to fundraise for Indigenous Peoples who are bound to enforce their rights and title through the Canadian legal system in order to protect their culture and traditional territories from irreparable environmental damage. In exchange for your alliance, you are entitled to certain benefits in recognition of your vital support. Please check those out here:

When Indigenous Peoples go before the courts to defend their rights, they also stand to protect the integrity of the land, water and air that we all depend upon. Very often the nations must go up against resource extraction corporations or governments with very deep pockets. Please help to ensure that the Beaver Lake Cree Nation can take this Tar Sands Trial to the finish line. And help RAVEN to make it a fair fight.

Thank you for believing in Indigenous Peoples’ equitable access to justice, to healthy land and water, and to our abundant shared future.

Warmly,

Susan Smitten

RAVEN Executive Director

P.S.: Your donations help us focus on our Mission, which is fundraising for the Indigenous Peoples who take the polluters to court to protect the land we all love.
