Let's take back our power: there's still time to stop the Site C Dam-age

Despite what a desperate Christy Clark is saying in the press, Site C is not a done deal. The push to build this expensive mega-project "at all costs" will end up costing ratepayers 40-50% more in hydro bills. And we'll be paying for it for generations, when in fact ordinary residents of BC don't need this power. In truth, BC Hydro wants to flood fertile farmland to provide power to fracking for LNG and the fossil fuel industry.
Clark is willing to stake everything on her LNG pipedreams - even though it is a money losing proposition and BC would have been better off developing alternatives like geothermal. Just because BC and BC Hydro are digging in to save face now that they've sunk so much money into the project, that doesn't mean it can't be stopped.
That's where the Treaty 8 legal actions come in. The federal government has the power stop Site C. The nature of the project requires approval from both Canada under the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act, and BC under the Environmental Assessment Act, in order to proceed. If the courts declare either of the project approvals invalid, Site C will not be able to proceed and any permits issued would be invalid. In a nutshell, striking down the federal approval would be enough in and of itself.
That is what Treaty 8 hopes to achieve in their legal challenge. They have a strong case: with your help, they can win.
Please help us spread the word on social media & through your network.
RAVEN is proud to stand with indigenous people in their resistance to the Site-C Dam. This strategic legal action can prevent this reckless project from ever being realized.
Together we have raised over $176,000, and your donations are still being doubled!! Can you give $10, $25, or even $100 to protect the Peace River valley?
Treaty 8 is not giving up. Will you stand with us?
We appreciate your support in this campaign.
