As a part of our annual Israeli Apartheid Week, Solidarity for Palestinian Human Rights UBC is delighted to present a panel discussion and Q&A with Aiyanas Ormond (BDS Vancouver) and Sid Shniad (Independent Jewish Voices Canada).

The evening will begin with each speaker giving a brief presentation of why their respective organizations were formed and how they have contributed to the cause of Palestinian liberation. This will be followed by a moderated panel discussion. Finally, the night will conclude with an open Q&A. Please come out and join... us for this exciting and informative event!

Speaker Bios:
Aiyanas Ormond is a member of the BDS Vancouver - Coast Salish Territories and coordinator of the Campaign to Boycott and Divest from G4S in Canada. He has been an anti-imperialist community organizer for more than 15 years including working with the Poverty Action Network, the Bus Riders Union and the Palestine Solidarity Group. He is currently an organizer with Red Sparks Union and a coordinating committee member of the International League of Peoples Struggle in Canada. Aiyanas was a student at UBC in 1997 when he worked with APEC Alert! to mobilize UBC students and the broader community to protest the APEC Leaders Summit.

Sid Shniad is a member of the national steering committee for Independent Jewish Voices Canada. Independent Jewish Voices Canada (IJV) is a national human rights organization whose mandate is to promote a just resolution to the conflict in Israel and Palestine through the application of international law and respect for the human rights of all parties. There are currently ten chapters of IJV in cities across the country, in addition to a growing number of student chapters on major university campuses.
