We have thousands of volunteers standing by, ready to get to work on a big public outreach campaign for a Made In Canada proportional representation system.

We need to reach thousands of people in key strategic ridings to show the Liberals that people want PR - and we can only do it with your help. Chip in today to help fund our community action teams.

Just a couple of nights ago, I stood at the front of a packed room of volunteers who were ready and eager to get to work on Leadnow’s new voting reform campaign.

I wouldn’t have believed that this would be possible a year ago - that we’d finally have an opportunity to change our broken voting system. It took a lot of organizing to get to this point - thousands of volunteers knocking on doors, making phone calls and dropping flyers during the election in order to bring an end to the Harper decade.

But we can’t afford to stop now, not when we are so close. We need to keep knocking on doors, setting up tables at festivals, meeting with MPs, and creating innovative digital tools to make our voices heard and build a large community of people who support a strong, fair and proportional voting system.

If we can demonstrate a large groundswell of support for a Made in Canada model of proportional representation, Liberal MPs will be more likely to put forward a PR solution because they will see it’s what their constituents want.

Let’s be real: a lot of people don’t know what proportional representation is and as a result, Liberal MPs may not be hearing about it from their constituents.

The Leadnow community knows that fixing our broken voting system could have important ripple effects on a broad range of other issues, from the environment to income inequality. We also know that a lot of people already understand our system is broken, but need to hear more about what the alternatives could be.

We’re training community action teams in key regions and they need the tools to be effective. Here’s just some of what your money will go towards:

• Create and print thousands of professional quality handbills, postcards and flyers that will help us get the word out about PR;
• Rent tables at summer festivals across the country so we can reach as many people as possible;
• Print buttons, t-shirts and lawn signs to make this campaign even more visible;
• Train hundreds of volunteers to be champions for a strong, fair and proportional voting system.

Together, we can demonstrate to Liberal MPs that their constituents care about voting reform, and that a strong, fair and proportional system is the best way to ensure their voices are heard.

Without thousands of volunteers knocking on doors, making phone calls and dropping flyers, we would not have been able to defeat Conservatives in so many key ridings across the country. Chip in $5, $10 or $20 today to help us build a voting reform movement in Canada.
