Kill Bill C-51?
Repeal or reform? A public forum
Young 201, Camosun College, Lansdowne Campus
Tuesday March 29, 7-9pm
Intense public opposition failed to stop the Stephen Harper government from passing Bill C-51, the Anti-terrorism Act, 2015. But before he was elected, Justin Trudeau promised to revise the legislation. It’s time for Trudeau to keep his promise.
But can the act be reformed, or must it be repealed entirely? Add your voice to the debate in a forum featuring:
Colin Bennett, Professor, Department of Political Science, UVic, and a specialist in the study of new information technologies and privacy protection.
Alan Breakspear, a retired professional intelligence officer who has worked for the Communications Security Establishment and CSIS.
Sofija Vrbaski, a Victoria activist who has led protests against C-51 and who is an MA candidate in Dispute Resolution at UVic. Her BA studies at Carleton University focused on human rights.
Reg Whitaker, Distinguished Research Professor Emeritus, York University, author of many books and articles about security intelligence.
Sponsored by the Human Rights and International Solidarity Committee of the Camosun College Faculty Association
