Support Clean Energy in BC! BCSEA Holiday Appeal

Holiday Appeal

Dear Friend,

The scientific facts about climate change are well known. The ongoing burning of large quantities of fossil fuels worldwide each year is adding greatly to the greenhouse gases accumulating in Earth’s atmosphere. This results in increasing global warming, the catalyst for climate change.

The evidence our climate is changing – and changing fast -- is all around us: extreme storms, severe droughts, floods and storm surges, heavy precipitation, stronger hurricanes, hotter temperatures and more heat waves and wildfires, melting glaciers and arctic sea ice, and rising sea levels. Climate change knows no national boundaries, no continent or nation has been spared from its effects. The safety and security of hundreds of millions of people are at risk.

As you know, we have but a short... window to change our trajectory and avert a climate catastrophe, perhaps the next 10 to 20 years. We simply must reduce the pace of emissions during this time in order to keep global warming below 2 degrees Celsius.

Experts agree this is the maximum increase allowable if we want to avoid the most dangerous effects of climate change. We have to act decisively and it must be done now.

Climate leadership is essential at this decisive moment in human history.

At BCSEA, we believe this can be achieved. This is why we are leading the way in B.C. when it comes to our society’s response to this critical issue. For the past 11 years, with the help of concerned people like you, we have been promoting the benefits of clean, renewable energy, energy conservation and energy efficiency.

Our goal? To accelerate our province’s and Canada’s transition toward a thriving, clean low-carbon economy, one that relies on sustainable energy sources and innovative clean technologies. The benefits are many: cleaner air, cleaner skies, healthier people, better quality of life and a robust power grid. Not to mention a massive economic and environmental opportunity for our society.

This year is a key year for climate change. In December, climate change will take centre stage when the United Nations convenes the Paris Climate Conference. Almost 200 of the world’s nations will come together to hammer out a new global climate agreement that will flatten or decline global energy emissions by 2030. This is an exciting time to be part of the clean and sustainable energy movement!

To continue our important work, we need your help. BCSEA’s activities are designed not only to inform and raise awareness about sustainable energy, but also to give the public, business, industry and government the tools, resources and solutions they need to move toward progressively lower impact energy sources. And BCSEA needs resources too.

This is why we are writing to you today. We need to raise a total of $25,000 this Holiday Season to sustain vital BCSEA initiatives in 2016. These include popular programs such as our Climate Change Showdown for schoolchildren, our informative and interactive webinars, and our awareness and education tools for the community. We need to expand and enhance each of these programs in order to keep them relevant and effective and to reach more people. In the new year, we also plan to mount a new province-wide program in collaboration with our chapters to promote and demonstrate the benefits of clean, renewable energy generation.

We hope we can count on concerned people like you to help us reach our $25,000 goal. We appreciate your interest in BCSEA and we hope you will consider giving generously this Holiday Season with a gift towards this urgent fundraising appeal. It’s easy to give, just click on this link. If each caring person like you gives, we will reach our goal by December 31st! We also invite you to become a member of BCSEA.

Climate leadership is essential at this decisive moment in human history. The choices we make now will affect generations to come. Please, be a climate leader. Join BCSEA today in standing up for a bright, prosperous future based on clean, renewable energy.

Your children and grandchildren will want to know that you did everything you could to make their world safer and cleaner!
