LNG: A dirty secret on the west coast
Hi PAOV,
We all know the devastating impact of the tar sands on the climate. But did you know British Columbia plans to build a liquefied natural gas (LNG) industry that could be just as bad?
Our new educational report, Canada’s Next Climate Crime, exposes how the BC government plans to build a brand new fossil fuel industry that will cook the climate.
LNG is primarily methane gas from fracking operations in northeast BC that is piped to terminals on the coast to be super-cooled and put on tankers bound for Asia. This polluting process can do even more damage to the climate than dirty coal.
In this report, you’ll learn what’s at stake and see why LNG is a pipe dream that Canada cannot afford.
Click here to read the report now.
We are calling on the Government of Canada to put a stop to BC’s climate-wrecking plans and leave dirty fossil fuels in the ground where they belong.
RIGHT NOW, we’ve got the chance to stop the first of these irresponsible LNG terminals from being built on BC’s coast – but there’s only one day left to act! The Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency is collecting public comments about the proposed Pacific NorthWest LNG project until Friday, March 11.
This project would devastate local salmon habitat and become one of the biggest point sources of greenhouse gas emissions in the country. But at last count, the company and its supporters have submitted 57 per cent of the comments. We need your help to make sure all the voices speaking up for the climate and wild salmon are heard!
Please take a minute to write a letter asking the government to reject the Pacific NorthWest LNG project.
Together we can halt dirty LNG plans and stop Canada’s next climate crime before it’s too late.
Sincerely,
Peter McCartney | Climate Campaigner
