Good news! I’ve just landed an important meeting with Public Safety Minister Ralph Goodale to talk about Bill C-51.
Can you chip in now to spin up a multi-part effort to crowdsource your voices, send me to Ottawa, and power the tools that will send your comments straight to the Minister?
It’s happening! After over a year of campaigning, and amplifying your concerns about Bill C-51, your OpenMedia team has secured an important meeting with Public Safety Minister Ralph Goodale to talk about this dangerous bill, and the government’s upcoming public consultations.
But we need your help to get there, and make sure we do this right!
Our meeting is set for May 5, and it could make all the difference. Goodale is leading the Government’s efforts to reform C-51, so it’s crucial that all of us tell him to repeal it NOW.
Over 300,000 Canadians have spoken up against Bill C-51. Our challenge? To ensure that each and every one of these voices are heard in our meeting with Minister Goodale.
Each one of us who speaks out increases our chances of pushing the Government to scrap Bill C-51 and get rid of its rights-trampling provisions.
If you can support this campaign today, we’ll be able to:
- Power the tools to collect your comments against Bill C-51
- Expose this campaign to as many people as possible
- Cover travel expenses to send me to Ottawa for the meeting
- Professionally print and assemble your comments
- Hand-deliver your petition signatures to the Minister
The Government has promised to consult Canadians about changes to C-51, but we still don’t know what that means. This meeting with Minister Goodale is our best chance to make sure the upcoming consultation isn’t just an empty gesture.
It’s simple: If we don’t demand to be heard, loud and clear, again and again, we won’t be heard.
The fight against C-51 is a fight for our future. If we let it stand, you can bet that subsequent governments will lock it in further by building on its privacy-killing, speech-censoring provisions.
Please, Mic, support our campaign to repeal Bill C-51 today. We only have a few days to spin this into high gear, so every bit counts!
For a brighter future,
Laura and your OpenMedia team
P.S. At the end of the day, individuals like you are the ones who make it all happen. Every win, every meeting, and every voice we amplify is made possible by your generous support. So thank you!
