Good afternoon

As you know, this August, the Green Party is holding its biannual convention in Ottawa. In advance of that convention, party members may submit policy resolutions to be voted upon by party members. Two such motions have been submitted. These include:

When these motions were made available to Green Members, an attack was launched by several... Zionist groups, with vicious, defamatory attacks on Independent Jewish Voices, (which has a campaign to revoke JNF’s charitable status, as well as the Greens. I am sure you have seen some of them.

It seems these lobby efforts are to to shut down this discussion by influencing Green members to indicate through their on line voting process that they reject discussion of these resolutions. This approach seems to be serving to intimidate the Greens into never supporting Palestinian rights again.

Elizabeth May has indicated that she opposes the BDS resolution.

Tyler has just put this message out to IJV members https://madmimi.com/p/b01118. Pal Sol supporters have been asked by Green supporters of the BDS motion to write to Elizabeth This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it." target="_blank">This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) who sponsored the BDS motion. Along with writing yourself, would you share this as widely as you can with Palestinian solidarity groups? What other steps should we be considering? It seems would be important to get to as many Green voting members as possible. Should we be looking at also a join letter from those from the Coalition who wish to join together? There was one group who mentioned doing a petition, so we are checking on its status. Is there any “big name” we would want to have weigh in, or any other creative ideas we might use? Just trying to get this conversation started....so look forward to all insights, ideas, intelligence and willingness to take action.... Karen
