In just a few weeks, members of Treaty 8 First Nations will embark on a very significant and historic journey. They are travelling 4,432km from the banks of the Peace River Valley to Montreal to make sure the voices of the Peace River Valley are heard in the Federal Court of Appeal.
The cross-country caravan will stop in communities along the way, sharing stories, connecting struggles, and building support for the just resolution of the West Moberly and Prophet River First Nations’ case against the Site-C dam.
Help make it happen. You can donate to the caravan through LeadNow https://secure.leadnow.ca/ea-action/action?ea.client.id=1694&ea.campaign.id=54671.
We are also collecting Aeroplan reward miles to cover travel & accommodation expenses: donate yours here: https://beyondmiles.aeroplan.com/eng/charity/283
“I will be journeying across Canada with other people from the Treaty 8 Territory to Montreal for my Nations’ court case against Site C and how it infringes on our Treaty Rights. A treaty that my great great grandfather signed in 1911— he did that with me in mind. I will humbly do my best to carry his voice and his intention for the people with the future generations in mind. By doing so we honour those that come before us and bless those that come after us.” — Treaty 8 member Helen Knott

RAVEN will be maintaining an online hub at nosite-c.com with video highlights, blog posts and stories from the "Treaty 8 Justice for the Peace Tour" events.
One of the aims of the tour is to collect testimony from indigenous young people across the country. Healthy land, air and water are integral for self-esteem, hope for the future, and cultural identity in aboriginal youth. We want to share powerful voices to show Trudeau— who also holds the portfolio of Minister of Youth — that he needs to keep the promises to indigenous peoples that got his government elected.
We believe that the Justice for the Peace Caravan will shine a light on the injustice being done in Treaty 8 territory, and give people in cities from Edmonton to Ottawa a chance to put reconciliation into action by supporting First Nations legal challenges to Site-C Dam.
Please share these social media graphics, and "Like" the Caravan facebook page.
Thank you for all that you do.
