Read our new report Canada's Bees On The Brink!
Dear Paov,
Did you know that bees and wild pollinators are responsible for one out of three bites of food we eat? That includes our perennial favourites like chocolate and that other life-giver — coffee!
Bees give us a lot of to be thankful for. Without bees and wild pollinators our natural world would be devastated and our food security in peril.
One of the big red flags is a dangerous class of pesticides called neonicotinoids (neonics).
Neonics are toxic to bees and wild pollinators, and they’re now the most widely used class of pesticides in the world. Scientists are increasingly concerned that they could be one of the leading causes of pollinator deaths globally. Understanding the well-documented threats of neonics is essential to protecting our bees and wild pollinators.
Our latest paper, Canada’s Bees on the Brink, is the third in a series of reports exploring the dangerous threats of neonics, habitat loss, disease and climate change that our bees and wild pollinators face, and how we can help them. In this report you’ll learn about.
-
Jurisdictions like Ontario and Quebec taking steps to bee-friendly against harmful neonics.
-
Our important legal challenge demanding the federal government take action on neonics.
-
The three important actions you can take to protect bees and wild pollinators.
For too long our government has put corporate profits ahead of the health and wellbeing of our bees and wild pollinators.
We can change that by working together to ensure the federal government introduces a nationwide ban against neonics. Sharing this report with your family, friends and co-workers is a great way to generate better protection for our pollinators.
