After a summer of listening to expert witnesses from Canada and around the world, and MP town halls across the country, the all-party committee on electoral reform (ERRE) is starting their national tour to hear from Canadians! ​The committee will deliver a recommendation for a new electoral system on December 1.

As part of the decision making process, speaking at these ERRE meetings is extremely important. This is our chance to show up and speak up for proportional representation! Opponents of reform are organizing and attending these events. We need to be there to let the ERRE committee know that Canadians support proportional representation!

4-5:15: Witness Panel: Craig Henschel (Member of BC Citizens' Assembly) and Keith Archer (Elections BC Chief Electoral Officer)
5:15 PM: Rally for PR at Quadra Park: Guest Speakers Elizabeth May, Nathan Cullen, Antony Hodgson, Guy Dauncey, David Merner (POSTER BELOW)
6:30 - 7:45 PM: Witness Panel: Antony Hodgson (Fair Voting BC), Diana Byford (Citizens Assembly), Individual (Hon. John Duncan)

7:45 - 9:30 PM: Public Mic! You can come just for the open mic if you want. You need to come at least 30 minutes before the open mic to sign in.

At town halls and consultations, we are focusing on communicating our core values:

- Proportional Representation: 30% of the vote should equal 30% of the seats

- Voter Equality: every voter should be able to elect an MP who reflects his/her values

- Diversity: Our Parliament should reflect our diversity, including the political diversity within each region

- Collaboration: proportional representation means parties working together, and policies supported by parties representing a majority of voters


The committee can get behind a made-in-Canada, proportional electoral system.

We need the committee to hear that Canadians expect the government to stick to its promised timeline and we support the platform promise of 3 parties to make every vote count in 2019. We look forward to the committee delivering a recommendation for a new electoral system in their final report on December 1.
