My new film + live comedy shows in October!

SHD Hello PAOV!

I’m writing to let you know about my new film and some opportunities to come to my stand up comedy shows in Vancouver and Toronto.

Last week Trudeau’s Liberals approved the largest greenhouse gas emitting project since the oil sands. Even the Financial Post pointed out the hypocrisy with the headline: “Petronas LNG approval demonstrates lack of commitment to climate change”.1

Long before my friends and I started SHD, I was working as an organizer for various climate change organizations across Canada. In 2011 I watched as an unprecedented storm in the Philippines destroyed my cousin’s home. In 2013 Typhoon Haiyan - the strongest storm at landfall in recorded history - decimated the Filipino island of Leyte, where my mother was born and raised. It was then that I decided to focus more and more of my work on the frontlines of the climate crisis. My new feature film is not about Justin Trudeau, it’s about the people most impacted by climate change. We’ve already completed filming in the Philippines.

Now we need help finishing the film. Check out this video!

The economic order which continues to prioritize energy sources causing climate change will only transform when it makes financial sense to do so. This transition would already make financial sense if the true economic cost of climate change were acknowledged. However, the damage climate change causes in countries like the Philippines is still an externalized or “invisible” cost. My new film is a dramatic comedy starring a real family that lost their home and family members to a climate disaster. It’s an artistic attempt to help internalize these costs at the cultural level. The Yes Men are Executive Producers, Mark Achbar (The Corporation) is an Associate Producer and several talented people who contributed to SHD were part of the small cast and crew.

You can watch a preview and learn more about the film here.

Stand up comedy shows in Vancouver (October 7 & 8) and Toronto (October 14th)!

I’m doing some stand up shows that I’m really excited about. I started performing as a stand up 14 years ago -- it’s something I Love doing and something I’ve been getting to do a lot more of since last year’s election. Disclaimer: My stand up is not about federal politics. Some of it might be considered political, but mostly it’s about weird stuff that happens in my life and silly thoughts I have from time to time. If you’re into that - please consider coming out to one of these shows!

Vancouver October 7 & 8

October 7th is sold out - a few tickets will be released at the door.
