Monday, Nov. 14, 6:30 pm Socialist Fightback MeetingUVic SUB B025
We know that everybody is
interested in talking about the election of Donald Trump right now so we're
preparing an extra event in November for this very purpose. Watch out for
invitations and posters to "How to Defeat Trump".
In the meantime though, without revolutionary theory there can be no
revolutionary movement. Our American comrades and the IMT have made some
excellent predictions on how this recent election would play out and they do
that on the basis of having studied the methods of Marx at length. Let us
follow their example!
Historically, there were many competing understandings of what socialism meant
and how it could be achieved. The works of Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels were
largely intended to offer a logical analysis of how society develops
historically and why socialism was the natural inheritor of capitalism. Engels
wrote a pamphlet on the subject of how Marxism differed... from it's idealistic
precursors of the early 1800's titled Socialism: Utopian and Scientific (see
here - http://bit.ly/1KtHiHW). Please join
us for a discussion of these ideas and how we can apply them to defeat not only
Trump but the entire capitalist system!
Our discussion will be at UVic in SUB B025 at 6:30pm this Monday, November 14th.
If you follow us on Facebook,
it would be great if you could indicate if you're intending to come. Here's the
