In 2016, RAVEN supporters witnessed Indigenous-led court challenges and successes that revealed the strength of Indigenous Peoples in Canada. You know that this work takes great vision, determination and money. You showed up to support us, time and time again.
You helped us surpass our fundraising goals for the Treaty 8 (Site-C Dam) and Tsilhqot’in (Fish Lake) campaigns!! You helped us with the core funding needed to keep our doors open. Your donations enabled us to take on more campaigns and continue to provide access to justice to more Nations challenging mines, pipelines, LNG and tar sands.
RAVEN is thrilled to work with a team of generous donors like you, who are committed to justice and reconciliation, and to protecting the integrity of the environment for all of our children.
Last year, you donated to RAVEN’s sustainability so we could hire a fundraising campaigns manager and expand our reach. And that’s exactly what we did! With this important addition to RAVEN’s capacity, we have already taken on new campaigns! As the New Year unfolds, you will be the first to hear the details of these campaigns and their potential impacts.
So what is our funding need for 2017? Well, if you have ever visited the office in Victoria, you know that we have outgrown our nest! We remain nimble, but 312 square feet is simply too small for five staff members (and occasionally three part-time contractors) to function well. There is an opportunity to move upstairs in this building, increasing our space to a modest 750 square feet. While we'll be moving on up, so will our rent.
