The Social Environmental Alliance is hosting a free, public panel on the crucial links between climate change, militarism, peace and sustainability. Kasia Tokarska, PhD candidate, will provide an overview of the latest science on the climate change and her research on the impacts of burning all the untapped fossil-fuel resources. Tamara Lorincz, a senior researcher with the International Peace Bureau and a member of the Vancouver Island Peace and Disarmament Network, will discuss her report "Demilitarization for Deep Decarbonization" about the problem of military emissions and expenditures. Dr. Tully, Professor Emeritus of Political Science, will talk about the need for peace and nonviolence to achieve climate justice. All welcome. This event is organized by the Social Environmental Alliance. It is supported by the Vancouver Island Peace and Disarmament Network, the Canadian Voice of Women for Peace and the UVic LEAP Club.
