In 1 days, I’m going to put on a suit and head to TD’s annual shareholder meeting here in Toronto where I’ll hand deliver a petition calling on TD to stop supporting Kinder Morgan’s dirty tarsands pipeline.
More than 15,000 Leadnow members have already signed, but we need to make this petition huge before Thursday’s petition delivery. Will you add your name now?
TD is helping Kinder Morgan line up investors to fund the Trans Mountain pipeline -- a dirty tarsands pipeline that would threaten BC’s coast with oil spills and unleash a dangerous increase in climate pollution. [1]
Right now, TD is especially vulnerable to public pressure. They’re under federal investigation for illegal and unethical sales tactics, and they’d do almost anything to avoid another scandal. [2]
When we deliver this petition at TD’s annual shareholder’s meeting -- in front of their top shareholders and the media -- we’ll show them that supporting Kinder Morgan could become a public relations nightmare they simply can’t afford right now.
We can convince TD to dump Kinder Morgan to avoid more bad press -- but only if we have a huge stack of petitions to deliver. We’re delivering this petition to TD in just 5 days. So what do you say Supa, will you add your name?
Just weeks ago, our German sister organization Campact convinced a huge German bank to cut ties with the Dakota Access pipeline. After thousands signing the petition, a hard-hitting ad in Germany’s largest newspaper and protests at the bank's headquarters, the bank pulled out all additional funding for the pipeline.
It worked in Germany, and it could work here - but only if thousands of us sign the petition now.
