Remind the BC government why we need to end raw log exports
Dear Paov,
On April 12, will you join us in Victoria and stand up for sustainable forestry in BC?
It’s time to protect what remains of the original ancient forest, and prioritize a sustainable, value-added industry based on second growth forests.
We’re proud to be joining the PPWC and UNIFOR, two unions representing workers in the forest sector, to rally for better forestry at the BC legislature!
What: Rally for Sustainable Forestry
When: Wednesday, April 12, 12 - 1 p.m.
Where: BC legislature (front lawn)
We’ve been proud to stand with forest industry workers in opposition to job-killing raw log exports. Earlier this year, we helped release the latest raw log export numbers and highlight the huge hit to communities and livelihoods that this practice causes.
In a monumental move, the PPWC issued a statement last month calling for the protection of remaining old-growth on Vancouver Island, echoing similar calls made last year by the Union of BC Municipalities and the BC Chamber of Commerce.
It’s time to build a forest industry that protects ecosystems, respects Indigenous rights, title and authority and prioritizes local jobs above corporate profit.
See you at the legislature!
