Working Better Together Dialogue Event on September 30th

Navigating through increasing inequities, and understanding the relationship between intersectionality and inequality is important in addressing how we continue to provide, maintain and access community services and resources.

Come share, learn and strategize as we figure out how to work towards equality together!

Taking place on the unceded territory of the Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh nations, Working Better Together: A Community Dialogue on Intersectionality and Inequality is a collaborative event organized by PeerNetBC, Urban Native Youth Association (UNYA), Check Your Head (CYH), and the Social Planning and Research Council of British Columbia (SPARC BC).

Working Better Together brings a close to PeerNetBC and SPARC BC's Inequality series, and aims to explore best practices in incorporating intersectionality into our work in addressing inequality and social change. This event offers a great opportunity to learn and network with people from various communities, groups and organizations so we hope to see you there!

Held on September 30th at the Vancouver Aboriginal Friendship Centre at 1607 East Hastings, this is a free event. Lunch and refreshments will be provided. Please find more informationa and register here. You can call 604-733-6186 or email This email address is being protected from spambots. New Project Call Out and Networking!

We are excited to share a project idea for which we are hoping to establish community partnerships in order to make it more inclusive and collaborative. Together with a group of community partners, we are currently working on an initiative to bring together South Asian youth within the Metro Vancouver area. It is intended to allow a multi-faith diaspora youth to explore as well as share their experiences in relation to diasporic history, while also navigating the reality of Islamophobia within and between our communities. We will be integrating different forms of creative opportunities into the project to allow the youth to develop their own narratives by exploring intersecting identities while connecting with their ancestral roots. This can also possibly include an inter-generational component within the project, as an opportunity to recognise how those experiences play out on unceded Coast Salish territories.

This project is still in the planning stages as we continue to look for funding. We would like to invite you to join us in its development and/or consider a partnership to actualize the initiative! We are very open to any ideas and collaborations as we would like the project to reflect the stories and lived experiences of our local communities! If you are interested in being a part of this project or have any questions, please do respond to this call out at This email address is being protected from spambots.
