Things feel fragile right now. Nuclear war could be on the horizon. Far-right extremism is on the rise. Climate change threatens our survival.
And yet in this year alone -- women have led a powerful movement to challenge the culture of sexual assault. The call for tax fairness has dominated the news, and renewable energy is growing faster than the fossil fuel industry.
It feels like we’re poised on the edge between our deepest dreams and oldest fears. We face a choice – to rise to this moment, or let it fall.
Will we rise?
It might depend, in part, on us. The Leadnow community is 400,000-strong -- we’re larger than most of the political parties. We know what we want. A country where the super-rich pay their fair share. An energy revolution that doesn’t include pipelines and coal plants. Politics that involves everyone.
But it’s not going to be easy. We’re up against cashed-up corporate lobbyists who’ll do anything to defend their profits, and organized far-right groups who want to silence our movement.
If we’re going to stand up to the billionaire corporations and far-right politicians, we need to make our movement bigger, stronger, and more connected than ever. So, what do you say, will you chip in $5 now to help us rise to this moment?
With your help, in 2018 we can:
- Run campaigns to make our values come to life. We’ll fight for a fair economy and trade deals that benefit all of us, a transition to a clean energy economy, and a democracy that includes everyone
- Build the best technology anyone has ever seen to give Leadnow members across the country powerful tools to organize and win campaigns in their communities
- Cut through the spin of politicians to spread the facts. That means we need to build a network of experts, so we’re ready to crush any lies
- Make sure we’ve got a team of the best campaigners in the country who can launch hard-hitting campaigns as soon as news breaks, so that we never miss the moment to have impact.
But all of this needs you. It’s easy to think someone else is going to rush in with a cheque, but the reality is we are supported by people like you. There are thousands of us receiving this email. If each of us chipped in today, we’d have enough to get going on our plans before the countdown on New Year’s Eve.
