It's an important time to be a RAVEN ally.
We are delighted to invite you to two events focused on efforts on both sides of the Canada-US border to protect the health of our common sea.
Round Table with Indigenous Water Protectors
Co-hosted by Urban Indigenous Northwest, Learning Right Relations and RAVEN.
Featuring four Indigenous grassroots leaders working to protect waters, land, and air for their tribal communities and future generations:
Kayah George, Tsleil-Waututh Nation and Tulalip Tribe,
Julian Matthews, Nez Perce,
Frank and Kathy Brown, Heiltsuk Nation,
Dakota Case, Puyallup Tribe

Standing with Indigenous People to Protect our Shores
Seattle, Feb 13, 5:30 - 7:30
Location TBA: please RSVP https://business.facebook.com/events/564396900592306/
Hosted by Friends of the Earth and Sierra Club Seattle.
Featuring Frank and Kathy Brown and speakers from Sierra Club Seattle and Friends of the Earth
RAVEN is a 501-c organization. Donations are tax deductible.
Both events are fundraisers for the Heiltsuk legal challenge to the Kirby Corporation and the government of Canada. Frank and Kathy Brown will share the story, in words and images, of the catastrophic sinking of the ATB Nathan E. Stewart and the resulting oil spill in Heiltsuk waters, which devastated the abundant marine resources on which the Heiltsuk have depended since time immemorial.
Speakers from Friends of the Earth and Sierra Club Seattle will discuss stronger protections of the Salish Sea against harmful fossil fuel projects. The event will stand in solidarity with the many tribes and First Nations who have been stewards of these waters since time immemorial.
We hope to see you there! Please pass it on to allies and friends who will want to hear about this.
Ana and Andrea on behalf of the RAVEN team
