Tell the feds to back off BC

Dear Paov,

What a wild few weeks!

Ever since BC announced plans to ban the transport of tar sands oil through its waters unless it’s proven to be safe, Premier Notley and Prime Minister Trudeau have been on the attack.

Click here to voice your support for BC Kinder Morgan’s pipeline would bring seven times more oil tankers to the Vancouver Harbour and Salish Sea. But the National Energy Board completely ignored the science that says nobody knows how to clean up a bitumen spill. Not to mention the reality that Canada cannot build this pipeline while meeting our climate goals and honouring Indigenous rights.

That’s why the BC government is stepping in to do the research the federal government failed to do.

Notley has responded to this reasonable measure by lashing out at BC wine producers and Trudeau is hell-bent on getting his pipeline, cranking up the pressure on BC to do it.

We need to show them this bullying is unacceptable.

It’s time to let the federal government know Canadians from coast to coast to coast support BC in protecting coastal communities from a catastrophic oil spill.
