The Community Social Planning Council is an independent, non-partisan, and knowledgeable voice on social issues in BC’s capital region. Through its work, the Council contributes to strengthening local research and evaluation capacity, and to building community-based research infrastructure. By supporting evidence-based policy and program development, practicing... inclusive community engagement processes, and promoting social planning practices, the Council supports the creation of sustainable communities.
The Board is seeking a visionary, energetic and collaborative individual who has a passion about enhancing the quality of life for the citizens of BC’s Capital Region to effectively lead this dynamic organization. Anti-Violence Project Volunteer Training
The Anti Violence Project is looking for enthusiastic and caring folks of all genders and backgrounds to participate in our volunteer training program. Training will include discussions on the root causes of gender-based violence and how we can foster communities of consent and care.
Volunteers are an essential part of our organization! Due to limited staff hours, we rely heavily on the creativity and capacity of volunteers to help run programming, facilitate workshops, and run drop in support hours. There are many benefits to volunteering, including gaining skills to support and empower survivors, joining a team of people to creating change, and gaining/utilizing knowledge on gender-based violence.
We encourage people of all genders and abilities to apply. Our volunteer training is open to students and community members; you do not have to be a UVic student to apply for our training!
This year volunteer training will be split into two parts:
· Part I: May 1st to 24th, 2018, tues/thurs evening, for three hours (6 hours each week)
· Part II: September - November 2018, once every two weeks, for three hours (approx. 6 hours each month)
Between Part I & II (June - August) volunteers will be able to volunteer in the AVP space, continue learning in more informal ways, and prep with us for September orientation.
