Write Now to save Tetrahedron Provincial Park!
Dear Paov,
I didn’t think I would need to write an action alert like this – but I was wrong.
The BC government is actually considering stripping away all or part of the 6,000 hectares Tetrahedron Provincial Park on the Sunshine Coast of its Class A provincial park status. The Sunshine Coast Regional District has applied to drain Chapman Lake in the heart of the park by up to 8 metres in order to supply water to surrounding communities.
This is not allowed in a Class A provincial park like Tetrahedron – hence the re-designation scheme.
There are other sources of water outside the park that would be much better in the long run, but the Regional District has set its sights on piping water from the park into its water supply system.
Right now, until June 8 the BC government is accepting online public comments. Please write now to keep Tetrahedron as a Class A provincial park!
