We are making history. Lets celebrate!

We are making history. Let’s celebrate! r1 ...

Let’s celebrate 2 years since Pull Together stopped the Enbridge Northern Gateway pipeline and tankers project!!!

Based on the flawed Joint Review Panel findings, the successful court cases led to the cancelling of Enbridge on June 20th, 2016. As part of the RAVEN community, you helped to STOP THAT PIPELINE!! Thousands of people like you donated, organized, and fundraised online to support Indigenous Nations and protect future generations from tankers and pipelines. Standing behind an unprecedented alliance of Nations along the pipeline route, we absolutely pulled together. RAVEN’s collaboration with Sierra Club BC raised over $613,800 for the legal challenges of seven First Nations.

This week, RAVEN is celebrating another anniversary of a HUGE VICTORY for Indigenous Peoples! Four years ago, on June 26, 2014, in Tsilhqot’in Nation v. British Columbia, the Supreme Court of Canada ruled that in the Tsilhqot’in Nation, Crown must obtain consent or meet legal requirements to justify infringing on aboriginal rights. This was the first declaration of Aboriginal title in Canadian history. Following their successful Supreme Court title case victory, RAVEN donors stepped in to provide support for the Tsilhqot'in Peoples' ongoing protection of Teztan Biny (Fish Lake). The Tsilhqot'in have plans too be back in court next week for their injunction application. Stay tuned!!

Vancouver Celebration at Bandidas Taqueria

Those Bandidas on Commercial Drive are doing it again! On National Indigenous Peoples Day, June 21st from 9am - midnight, Bandidas will donate 100% of the profits from food and drink sales to RAVEN’s Heiltsuk campaign ~ plus they are launching a mult-artist art show! Customers are invited to donate alongside the Bandidas by adding donations to their bills at the restaurant or donating directly through the Bandidas Taquerias team pages: Stop Kinder Morgan & Heiltsuk Campaign. Thank you!!

Poetic Justice?

RAVEN stands alongside all those protectors who were arrested and sentenced for putting their lives and liberty on the line to stop the Kinder-Morgan pipeline expansion. While RAVEN’s strategic mission is concentrated exclusively on funding Indigenous legal battles, we do want to thank all of you warriors!

Many arrestees have been handed “community service” sentences that requires putting in hours with a local non-profit organization. Guess what? Volunteering with RAVEN qualifies! Contact us if you want to do your community hours with RAVEN, and we will support you in organizing events and holding fundraisers for Indigenous Nation’s legal challenges. We love the RAVEN/Trickster element of this ~ you can serve your time by organizing to stop the pipeline and tankers project…! Please pass the message on to anyone looking for a place to do something meaningful with their service. Contact Ana, our Campaigns Director, and she’ll help you manifest some poetic justice! Message from the RAVEN Board of Directors on National Indigenous Peoples Day:

June 21st is National Indigenous Peoples Day - a good time to reflect on the kindness, patience and courage that Indigenous Peoples teach us every day. Being on the Board of RAVEN is humbling, it feels like such a small thing in the face of the enormous injustice and desperate urgency in many First Nations. It is an honour to be in the presence of this much courage and determination, and to witness grace in the face of so many betrayals.

With your financial assistance and dedication to righting the historical wrongs suffered by First Nations, RAVEN continues to be able to provide critical support in legal battles that aim to make a difference to all Indigenous Peoples in Canada. We are so proud to be on RAVEN’s Board, and to have a small part in our collective efforts to ensure that Indigenous Peoples get the rights and respect that should have always been in place.

The work we do at RAVEN is founded on trust. We are deeply grateful for the trust placed in us by donors, funders and the partner Nations with whom we fundraise. We feel grateful every day to have found a way that we can help. Your generosity makes this possible.

Thank you, and happy National Indigenous Peoples Day!
With gratitude for all you do for Indigenous justice and the Earth,

The RAVEN team ~

Jan, Andrea, Sue, Ana, Laurie, Leah, Josie and Michelle
