Build unity for ancient forests
the 5th Annual Walbran Convergence

Dear Paov,

It’s the middle of the summer – that means get into the forest with the Wilderness Committee!

Among the trips and events happening this summer, we’re most excited about the 5th Annual Walbran Convergence where we'll gather in a spectacular ancient rainforest and build unity for the protection of ancient forests.

On July 28-29, more than one hundred people will gather in the Central Walbran Valley in the unceded territory of the Pacheedaht Nation.

What's the plan?

Opening and welcome: speakers kick off the weekend at 12:30pm on Saturday
Community meal: Saturday evening. Payment is $15-30 sliding scale (email transfer: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.)
Saturday night: live music
Sunday breakfast: by donation ($10-20 suggested, please bring cash)
Guided hikes: held on Sunday to the Emerald Pool, Castle Grove or other parts of this old-growth landscape
Volunteers needed: Food prep volunteers (contact Erika at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) and site prep volunteers (contact Pete at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.)

Transportation options and directions

We’re working with other convergence organizers to make the event as accessible as possible, and are organizing return transportation on the Community Action Bus on Saturday. The bus will be leaving Saturday morning from the Vic High parking lot (on Gladstone and Chambers) at 7am with a pick up in Duncan (at the Save On Foods on the highway) at 8:15am and coming back the same day, leaving the Walbran at 7pm (after dinner). We should arrive back in Victoria around 11pm. Round trip bus tickets are being offered at a subsidized rate of $25 per person or at the full cost of $50. For payment, email transfers to: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
For carpooling options, if you have a seat available or need a ride check out this page and click here for driving directions. Stay tuned on the Walbran Convergence facebook page for more details and speaker announcements!

I hope to see you in the Walbran on the 28!
