Energy Connections 2018

BCIT Burnaby Campus | September 15

Hi PAOV,

We're TEN DAYS away from Energy Connections 2018! Find out what's in store for Sessions Three and Four.

On September 15th, connect with hundreds of renewable energy enthusiasts, industry leaders and cleantech professionals at the biggest sustainable energy event of the season. In our last email, we looked at BC’s transportation and land use planning and innovations being made in the transportation sector!

Just after a lunch full of opportunity to network amongst each other we have sessions 3 and 4.

Session Three – The Future of Freight

Jeffrey Phillips of Dawson Strategic will moderate this session focusing on local companies’ strategies and technologies developed to reduce emissions from the movement of container goods. Allan Grant of Corvus Energy and Devlin Fenton of Go99 will be joining the discussion to add their expertise in the transportation industry.

Devlin Fenton is the CEO of Go99, an app that connects carriers and shippers! He has had two decades of entrepreneurial experience in a variety of industries; from heavy equipment and civil construction to industrial moving, healthcare and information technology.

Allan Grant is a seasoned business executive with over 30 years’ experience at BC Hydro in the clean energy sector and stationary power markets. Allan has been with Corvus Energy for over 6 years. He is currently VP of Sales, where he is responsible for North American, Far East and European markets.

Session Four: From Pilots to Industry Drivers

It will examine current pilots of smart vehicles and electric buses. Expert environmental lawyer Selina Lee-Andersen will moderate this panel with our own Tom Hackney of BC Sustainable Energy Association, Kristina Mlakar from the Canadian Urban Transit Research and Innovation Consortium, Eve Hou from Translink, and Kelly Carmichael from BCIT.

Eve Hou is a Project Manager at TransLink's New Mobility group. She currently leads up TransLink’s first Open Innovation Call, which seeks to engage the private sector for new ideas and innovation, as well as a New Mobility Lab, which will be TransLink’s interface with academic researchers. With an extensive background in electric vehicle policy and strategy, Eve now adds shared, connected and autonomous mobility to her portfolio.

Kristina Mlakar is the National Operations Manager and Project Lead with CUTRIC in Toronto. She manages the operations of CUTRIC’s fast-growing national team. Kristina’s research capacities and knowledge of the subject matter - which includes the completion of her Master’s research paper on the State of Autonomous and Connected Vehicles in Canada - led her to also become the Project Lead for CUTRIC’s National Smart Vehicle Demonstration and Integration Trial.
