Fidelity: Investing in Injustice - #stolenhomes

Call Airbnb's fund manager today to say no more #stolenhomes.

logo Take Action

Keep the pressure on Airbnb by calling William Dannoff, the Portfolio Manager of their major investor, Fidelty.

.

TAKE ACTION

.

. .

Dear PAOV,

This will be quick--but it’s urgent and really important.

As part of the #Stolenhomes coalition, 150,000 people have told Airbnb to end their policies of displacement and discrimination. From gentrification in cities in the US to profiting off vacation rentals in the Occupied West Bank, they are making money off of #stolenhomes.

But we’ve heard nothing in response. It is clear Airbnb cares more about their bottom line than the voices of the communities they are making money from, so we are gonna start talking where they listen.

We are going to pressure the largest institution invested in Airbnb--Fidelity Investments--to use their sway to force Airbnb to end their profit off of #stolenhomes.

Qatar: 11 Killed in Labour Camp Fire - ITUC OnLine

Brussels, 6 June 2016 (ITUC OnLine): The deaths of 11 workers in a Qatar labour camp fire on 1 June is yet another example of the government’s complete disregard for the migrant workers building the huge infrastructure programme in the lead-up to the 2022 World Cup. A further 12 workers were injured in the fire, which happened in a labour camp housing workers on the Salwa tourism development which includes a 362-room Hilton Hotels resort.

Excerpt from Megacity Malaise:

Neoliberalism, Public Services and Labour in Toronto

Carlo Fanelli

City Manager Peter Wallace recently released a report on The City of Toronto's Long-term Financial Direction. The analysis is the latest to reinforce what many earlier studies have long been arguing: that the city of Toronto does not have a spending crisis, but a revenue crisis. It found that "cost containment" measures have produced some $300-million in savings since 2010, but that this has done little to address the structural deficit at the root of the city's financial challenges. The report notes that, consistent with the austerity approaches adopted by the governments of Ontario and Canada, city government is less expensive today than it was six years ago: some $165 or...

Families Fleeing Conflict Stay Connected

A photo exhibit examines the pressures the refugee crisis puts on familial bonds.
Open Society Foundations Many of the hardships of the Syrian refugee crisis are highly visible: the tent cities, the overloaded boats, the lines of migrants that stretch as far as the eye can see.

But some of its most poignant scenes unfold in private.

Hey PAOV,
In case you missed it: Global Citizen partnered with C2 Montréal as the 2016 Official Social Change Partner. C2 Montréal is a conference that inspires creative leadership, and is said to be “a business conference unlike any other” by Harvard Business Review.
