Isis chose the beginning of Ramadan to launch an attack on Kobane in an attempt to retake the city liberated by the Kurdish resistance this past January. No sooner was the attack repelled than Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan began brandishing his scimitar and deploying troops and armour to the border with Syrian Kurdistan, threatening to put an end to the project of democratic autonomy that Kurds are building in the three cantons of Rojava.

Christy Clark's Secret Deal with Petronas
to be approved in July

Legislature meets July 13 ...
(June 28, 2015): The BC Legislature will meet July 13 to put into law a secret agreement signed last month by Christy Clark and LNG giant PETRONAS. Premier Clark has so far refused to tell us citizens what is in the Petronas PDA (project development agreement). However, we will be committed to the deal by this legislation - which could be passed in one or two weeks.

Myanmar: Employers Must Accept Minimum Wage - ITUC OnLine

Brussels, 3 July 2015 (ITUC OnLine): Trade unions have reacted angrily to threats by Myanmar manufacturing companies, backed by Korean and Chinese business interests, to close around 100 factories if a minimum wage is introduced. The government has announced a minimum wage of US$3.20 per day following a year of consultations between unions, government and employers.
